On September 28, Hurricane Ian hit the state of Florida hard, leaving our communities in dire need. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian confirms as climate disasters increase in frequency and intensity, we must address the institutionalized discrimination that delays or denies emergency recovery aid to BIPOC communities. Days after the hurricane, we witnessed the lack of emergency response by local authorities in low-income neighborhoods in Central Florida. Climate Justice = aid and recovery to communities that need it most.
Chispa Florida is leading a community survey, intending to know the needs of our community, directing our efforts appropriately, and supporting all those in areas affected by the Hurricane. It is essential to know how our community is doing and what they need after the impact of Hurricane Ian.
